Muse Awards recognizes local artists

Nominations for awards now open and accepted until March 14

Nominations are now being accepted for the Mission Muse Awards.

The awards are coordinated by Mission's Cultural Resource Commission (CRC) and honour individuals and groups that make Mission resonate with artistry. The awards also recognize those who support, advocate and educate on behalf of arts and culture.

The categories for individuals, groups, and emerging artists are music, visual, and performing and literary arts.

Businesses, organizations, individuals and educators can also be nominated for the Arts Advocate Muse Awards.

“This is your opportunity to celebrate Mission artists and our vibrant arts community,” said CRC chair Kat Wahamaa. “And we’ve made it easier than ever for you to put your favourite artist or advocates name forward."

Anyone, even artists themselves, can make a nomination. All entries must be in by March 14.

The awards presentation will take place April 23 at Heritage Park Centre at 7 p.m.

Nomination forms are available at the Mission Leisure Centre, library and arts centre. For more information, visit www.missionculturalresources.ca or call CRC chair Kat Wahamaa at 778-322-1596.
