Tiller’s Folly returns to the Twilight Concert stage on Friday (Aug. 16) night and it is appropriate that as they look out from the park, they will see the Fraser River. The river and it’s long and winding history has long been the basis for a lot of the music of Tiller’s Folly.
The group has been singing the praises of British Columbia for the better part of 20 years. Despite its longevity, frontman and primary songwriter Bruce Coughlan said the Vancouver Celtic trio could easily go another 20, given the province’s rich history.
“There is no shortage of material,” Coughlan said. “It’s finding the time, more than anything else.”
Tiller’s Folly has focused its songwriting sights on B.C. history and they have been eager to share with audiences internationally, at home and their most important concerts – in the classrooms.
This trio is planted at the forefront of a bold new movement in progressive roots music. A highly regarded Canadian Celtic group has shifted to be more aptly termed Acoustic Roots Music.
On Wednesday, Aug. 21, audiences will be getting their country on with local country gentleman Ken McCoy and his band.
An absolute favourite at the Twilight concerts, this band delivers hard driving, good old fashioned music and fun. The show is jammed with style and energy and has garnered a huge following in the Fraser Valley.
The Twilight Concert Series takes place every Wednesday and Friday at 7 p.m. at Fraser River Heritage Park in Mission.
