Gunshots strike house, vehicles near Mission Sports Park

Mission RCMP say vehicle was found burned hours later but connection to shooting unknown

No one was injured after gunshots hit a house and multiple vehicles near Mission Sports Park early Friday morning (April 5).

Mission RCMP responded to reports of shots fired at roughly 1:15 a.m. on the 31800 block of Kenney Avenue. Officers discovered a house and multiple vehicles parked in its driveway were struck by bullets.

Police later found a dark SUV on fire on Barr Street at 4:45 a.m., just south of Richards Avenue. RCMP are investigating whether it was involved in the incident.

The motive of the shooting is unknown but police say there is no indication that anyone else is at risk

“This type of gun violence is not often seen in Mission,” Cpl. Harrison Mohr said in a news release. “We want to do everything possible to ensure that the person or persons responsible for this shooting are identified and held responsible for their actions.”
