Mission residents are once again able to take home free compost soil from the Mission Landfill over the next two months.
Each resident is eligible to receive one cubic yard of compost per household for free. Proof of residency is required and the offer is open to residents both within and outside the curbside collection area.
“Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your garden or landscaping projects with free compost. Make sure to take advantage of this limited-time offer for Mission residents,” the City of Mission said.
Those who wish to receive compost are urged to bring a shovel, suitable footwear and be ready to load the soil themselves.
Large quantities of compost are available for purchase directly from the city’s contractor at the landfill.
Compost distribution is available from April 1 to May 31 during regular Mission Landfill business hours — 8 a.m. - to 5 p.m. The city says that weekends may experience high traffic.
Residents can receive status updates and availability by contacting the landfill directly at 604-826-9008 while those interested in larger quantities can call 604-785-8518 to arrange for purchase or inquire about machine loading options and associated fees.
