A pedestrian was killed in a collision on Lougheed Highway in Mission on Thursday night (Sept. 7).
Mission RCMP were called to the 32000 block of Lougheed Highway at approximately 9:35 p.m. after reports of a pedestrian struck by a car.
A man was found injured on the scene. Life-saving efforts were made by first responders but the man died from his injuries.
According to a Mission RCMP news release, the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating. Police say impairment by either drugs or alcohol was not a factor.
The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Integrated Collision and Reconstruction Service attended to examine the scene which resulted in the closure of the eastbound lane of Lougheed Highway for several hours. Mission Fire Rescue Service and BC Ambulance Service also attended the call.
