In an era where travel is not just about the destination but also the journey, Air Canada, in partnership with Vancouver International Airport (YVR), is redefining international travel for Canadians departing from Vancouver.
In April, the skies will open wider as Air Canada launches its non-stop, year-round service to Singapore, exclusively operated from YVR on the state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This landmark service sets Air Canada apart as the only airline offering non-stop flights between Canada and Singapore. The route is Air Canada’s longest flight measured by distance; with a flying time of up to 16 hours travelling 12,818 kilometres!
“Air Canada is thrilled to welcome customers onboard our newest route linking Canada and Singapore from our Pacific hub in Vancouver,” says Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada.
“These new Singapore flights are part of our strategic expansion at YVR, which together with an efficient and seamless in-transit connection process, further position the airport as the preferred North American gateway to Asia,” he adds.
With flights scheduled four times a week, this route can appeal to anyone. From young professionals to seasoned travellers, from business reasons to leisure travel, this accessible route can interest everyone!
A flight experience redefined
Air Canada’s Boeing 787 will have three different service cabins for customers to choose from, including Signature class with lie-flat seats, Premium Economy and Economy class. There will even be complimentary chef-inspired designed meals, wines, and additional beverages.
From the spacious cabins and wide seats to the dimmable windows and LED sky simulation, every detail is designed with passenger comfort in mind.
The 787 Dreamliner’s advanced air filtration system, quieter cabin and turbulence reduction technology further ensure a journey as serene as the destination itself.
Vancouver International Airport, with its award-winning in-terminal experience, plays a crucial role in this new route.
“I am pleased Air Canada has chosen YVR to host the only non-stop flight between Canada and Singapore,” said YVR President and CEO, Tamara Vrooman. This new route will generate $18 million in economic output and support jobs across the sector.
“We welcome this new service which will grow tourism, support increased trade, and importantly, connect families and friends across the Pacific region.
The launch of service to Singapore speaks to the continued investment Air Canada is making in Vancouver, which in turn benefits our community and the regional economy.” states Vrooman.
Beyond the flight
The launch of Air Canada’s Singapore route opens a new chapter in travel possibilities, for all travellers seeking adventure in Southeast Asia.
“Singapore is also an important gateway to beyond destinations. Customers have a multitude of connection options travelling to Southeast Asia, Southern India and Western Australia with our longstanding codeshare and Star Alliance partner, Singapore Airlines.” says Galardo.
