The 2022 Mission Career Expo & Job Fair, an event to promote local employment and career preparation opportunities, will take place at the Mission Leisure Centre on Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 10 am to 3 pm.

The event is being sponsored by Prospera Credit Union and collaboratively planned by the City of Mission, Work BC, Mission Public Schools, North Fraser Community Futures, and the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce.

“We have combined efforts with the intent of assisting local job seekers with securing meaningful employment, making informed career decisions, and providing them with the information and tools they need to get there,” said Stacey Crawford, director of economic development for the City of Mission.

The purpose of the Career Expo & Job Fair is to connect job seekers with employers from a range of industries to share information on current job opportunities, career trends, skills training, and to provide opportunities for networking and the development of professional relationships.

Job seekers will have the opportunity to interact one-on-one with local and other Fraser Valley employers from a wide variety of sectors to learn about their organizations and the positions they are hiring for.

In addition to employers from a variety of sectors, exhibitors at the Fair will also include post-secondary and career training institutions, industry associations, and career planning service providers.

The fair is also an effort that is responsive to the city’s current period of rapid growth. Local labour market statistics show that from July to September 2021 the amount of advertised jobs in Mission increased significantly compared to the amount of jobs that were advertised in the Fraser Valley overall.

Additionally, the fair aligns with one of Council’s strategic goals of attracting and maintaining viable employment opportunities to the community, for both workers and employers, to improve the economic conditions and encourage growth in Mission.

Council recognizes the benefits that both families and the community as a whole realize when residents are employed within Mission, therefore staying in Mission to shop, volunteer, and enjoy the plentiful recreation opportunities.

Not only is the fair set to have 35 plus employers from a wide variety of industries who are looking to fill vacancies within their organizations, but there will also be a host of career service providers from educational institutions, industry associations, and employment service resources on hand to assist job seekers with getting on the path to obtaining the job they want.

Whether looking for a new job, information on local post-secondary and training programs, or assistance with career planning, job seekers will be able to find it all at the 2022 Mission Career Expo & Job Fair.
