Awarding summer readers

Special ceremony takes place Aug. 28 at the Mission library

Kids who have completed their summer reading records at the Mission Library will be recognized at a special ceremony on Aug. 28.

Readers who have finished seven weeks of reading should bring their records to the library for stickers and information about the event. Those who have completed their goal, but cannot attend the event can pick up their medals at the library.

The Fraser Valley Regional Library has sponsored Summer Reading Clubs for more than 40 years. This year’s Funny Business theme captured the imagination of young and old and produced a near record number of readers who joined in the fun, reading books from the hilarious to the serious and collecting stickers, playing the Reading Club Board Game, and searching for the club mascot, a tricky chick named Peep who moved around the library, hiding in a different spot every week.

The awards ceremony will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Mission library, 33247 Second Ave. For more information, call 604-826-6610.
