For the first time, an aboriginal back to school picnic was held in Mission, as part of a provincial initiative. The Mission picnic took place on Aug. 22.
At the picnics, each student receives a backpack and all their required school supplies. They also enjoy a fun day of activities.
A total of 2,106 students took part in eight picnics.
