Mission RCMP are continuing to investigate a shooting incident that took place last week.

In the early morning of September 20, a loud shot was heard in a residential complex in the 7300 block of Cedar Street.

Mission RCMP investigated the report and confiscated several weapons from an individual living in the complex.

Mission RCMP Staff Sgt. Rob Dixon confirmed that a shot was fired in an apartment and it went through the wall into another resident’s home, through their television set and lodged into the wall.

No one was injured.

“A serious situation was avoided by just luck,” said Dixon.

“We seized more firearms from the individual and are investigating the cause of the negligent discharge.”

Rifles and handguns, all properly stored, were seized by the RCMP pending the result of their investigation.

Charges have not yet been laid but officers are investigating whether careless use of a firearm charges are warranted.

The police are treating the incident quite seriously.

“It (the bullet) could have traveled even farther and being a populated area it could have been more serious. Fortunately it didn’t go that way,” said Dixon.
