Youth Week runs from May 1-7 and events are being planned to celebrate youth in the community.
The Youth Festival will take place May 3 from 12 to 10 p.m. at the Mission Leisure Centre. There will be skateboard and dance competitions, a food eating contest, and a chance to participant in numerous fun events, such as graffiti art, wood and soapstone carving, and sumo suit wrestling. There will also be a performance by Childsplay.
Other events happening during the week are a youth art show on May 7 at the Clarke Theatre from 6:30 to 9 p.m.; a music workshop with Lissa Nessim on May 8 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Mission Arts Centre; and a poetry slam on May 9 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Mission Arts Centre.
