The District of Mission's finance department released a community report Nov. 3 which includes information about department planning and the proposed 2012 fiscal budget.

"This document represents best practice in reporting and we felt it was in the community's best interest to provide the information now, prior to the upcoming budget dialogue, so that the public will have the time to go through the material in advance," said district finance director Ken Bjorgaard in a press release.

This is the first year the district has released such a report, which is an expanded version of the annual budget document. The new format looks at finances, but also highlights future planning.

"The information in this report will help inform the decision-making about future tax and service levels and hopefully encourage people to take an active role in the public discussion," said Paul Gipps, deputy chief administrative officer.

The community report can found under What's New on the district's website or by clicking this direct link (PDF file).
