Roderick Muchikekwanape is back in Canadian custody after being nabbed by U.S. marshals following his escape from Mission Minimum Security Institution.

U.S. authorities arrested Muchikekwanape in a California hospital on Mar. 27 after being on the lam for nearly five months. He had walked out of the minimum security facility on Oct. 29, 2020.

“On Nov. 10, 2021, Muchikekwanape was returned to the custody of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC),” they said in a press release. “CSC is conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

“Ensuring the safety and security of institutions, staff and public remains the highest priority in the operations of the federal correctional system.”
