A fundraiser has been started for a mother and son who lost everything in an apartment fire in Mission on April 27, according to the GoFundMe page.

Karin Skaley and her son were living in the Minerva Gardens apartments when a fire broke out last Wednesday, wrote Mischa Hengbasch, the page organizer.

“They managed to escape safely but lost everything,” Hengbasch said. “She was denied renters’ insurance due to a recent flood in the building.”

The two are now staying with family, but will have to relocate and find long-term tenancy elsewhere and repurchase everything, Hengbasch said.

She said the funds raised will go towards necessities such as food, furniture, household items and a rental deposit.

“We thank you for your generosity.”

Three donors have given $600 dollars so far.
