Diwali was celebrated Tuesday at the Clarke Theatre, with nearly 1,000 people streaming through the doors.
The Heritage Park Secondary School foyer was packed with children and their parents enjoying crafts, henna and story time, alongside numerous informative and educational displays.
Approximately 25 different local groups contributed to make the event a success, said organizer Kusum Soni, from Mission Community Services.
The free event included entertainment that started with the performance from StrongStart kids and their parents, and ended with a Bollywood performance from UFV.
