An inmate at the Mission Institution medium security unit has died.
On September 15, Sean Michael Nielsen was found unresponsive in his cell.
Staff members immediately began performing CPR and emergency services were called.
The inmate could not be resuscitated
At the time of his death, Nielsen, 46, had been serving a sentence of five years for theft and robbery, since December 22, 2014.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified of his death.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the police and the coroner have been notified, and Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances of the incident.
