If you are looking for some haunted thrills this weekend, come out to the Silverdale area.

You’ll also be helping raise money to help others.

The Nightmare Haunted House was started up in the early 2000s by Tim White and his family any many dedicated volunteers after many years in Stave Falls. The event was then relocated to the Silverdale Hall at 8760 McLean St. in Silverdale.

“During this time, we’ve been running for several years through our Mission Fire Rescue Association station 3,” said Steve Sikora. “Firefighters and family members have volunteered endless amounts of hours to make sure that this haunted house goes off without a hitch. Since Covid, we’ve had a two-year suspension of this operation, during this time we weren’t even sure if we were going to make it happen this year.”

But now it’s a go and people can come out every night from 7 to 10 p.m. until Oct. 30 for some chills and thrills.

But it took a lot of work, said Steve Sikora.

“Many of our families have gone without seeing their loved ones if it wasn’t for the countless hours it takes to set up and man the haunted house over the days that it is open this haunted house this event would not be successful,” he said. “It’s only successful because of its volunteers every year - we have young kids, teenagers and adults all volunteering, putting on their scariest outfits to haunt the public. This year is no exception. We always try to raise the bar every year, we want everybody to know that this is one of the best haunted houses in the Lower Mainland where you won’t go broke taking your family.”

The cost is $7.50 to get in and most of the proceeds go to the food bank and the Christmas Bureau.
