The Mission Record has been recognized by the judges of the Ma Murray Awards.

The annual industry awards are handed out each spring by the B.C. and Yukon Community News Media Association (BCYCNA), and the winners will be announced on May 4.

Editor Kevin Mills is a finalist for a Feature Video Award for a piece he created on the Mission mural project.

The newspaper is also up for the Portrait/Personality Photo Award for a photograph of Arnold Atsma, titled Mission’s last cobbler.

They are also listed as a finalist for a story titled Harassment complaints plague corrections, which is up for the John Collison Investigative Journalism Award.

In addition, the newspaper itself is a finalist for Newspaper Excellence.
