More funding for interpretive forest

Province and district contribute another $175,000 to project

The province and District of Mission are contributing another $175,000 to develop Mission’s Interpretive Forest.

The joint funding announcement was made Thursday afternoon at Mission’s Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

The provincial government is putting $40,000 towards the Recreation Master Plan for Stave West and $32,500 for road building. Mission is providing $70,000 of cash and in-kind contributions for the plan, and $32,500 for the road.

The Mission Interpretive Forest is located on the west side of Stave Lake. The Florence Lake Road provides public access to the area where the district is looking to develop additional recreation sites and amenities, and demonstrate that working forests can also offer recreational opportunities.
