Mission RCMP have yet to release any new information about an ongoing investigation that saw a large section of Prentis Ave., including the Heritage Park Childcare Centre, surrounded by police tape.

The incident began on Friday afternoon. While no official information has been released, a spokesperson for the daycare said “all the staff and children from the centre are safe.”

Parents were called to pick up their children from the centre.

An ambulance and Victim’s Services were also on scene on Friday afternoon.

The investigation appears to be centred around a garbage dumpster located adjacent to the childcare centre. A blue tarp and white tent can be seen covering the area, but nothing has been confirmed by police.

Mission RCMP Inspector Annette Fellner did say “there is an investigation at the 32000 block of Prentis Ave. There is no public safety concerns and no further information will be released at this time.”

This story will be updated when new information is released.
