PROFILE: Al Stobbart, area G (incumbent)

Al Stobbart is running again for the area G electoral area director

I grew up in Deroche and married my wife Denise in 1973. We have two children and two granddaughters aged 14 and 15. Following a long career, I retired from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, in 2010.

As incumbent for area G, I believe that ensuring the well-being of our vibrant agriculture industry, promoting environmentally innovative development, and maintaining air and water quality by means of responsible resource utilization are key to maintaining the healthy, rural lifestyle we value so highly.

In addition to delegated responsibilities with FVRD boards, I’ve enjoyed serving with the parks and treaty advisory committees, acting as liaison with North Fraser Fire Department and as FVRD representative at the Sto:lo treaty table.

I continue to actively support our communities as a long-time volunteer with the Sasquatch Lions Club, Deroche Community Association, North Nicomen Diking District and a number of environmental and industry stewardship groups.
