PROFILE: Dan Williamson, mayor

Dan Williamson was a former Langley Township alderman and has lived in Mission since the 1980s.

I have lived in Mission since the mid 1980s. Prior to that I lived in the Township of Langley where I was an alderman.

During the course of my working life I have worked in highway construction, forestry, mining exploration, and as a wildlife officer with the B.C. Fish and Wildlife Branch.

Over the last few years I have become increasingly concerned about the municipal government situation in Mission.

Costs on the Leisure Centre were way too high, partly because of add-ons. The P3 water fiasco amazed and disturbed me.

Having a private company sell us our own water is insane. Yes, we should have private technical advisers but they should never control the plant or the resource. If it had not been for the outrage of a number of citizens it would have gone through.
