PROFILE: Jim Taylor, trustee

Jim Taylor has lived and worked in Mission for 30 years.

Jim was born and educated in B.C. and received his bachelor’s degree and teacher training at SFU. He has lived and worked in Mission for 30 years and his three daughters attended Mission public schools. As a regular classroom teacher and then a special education teacher, he held a number of positions within the teachers’ union, and retired last year after serving as a district manager.

Jim is active in our community in a number of environmental and community service groups.

As an elected school trustee, Jim will work to ensure that funding is directed to areas that have the greatest impact on students, providing needed textbooks and learning resources; rather than funding bureaucracy. He believes that Mission students need access to a much fuller spectrum of academic, vocational and fine arts programs. He will support the enforcement of high academic and behavioural standards.
