Mission RCMP are asking for the public's help in locating 56-year-old Robert Hazzard of Abbotsford.

Police are trying to piece together what happened on the evening of March 10 when they found an 18-year-old man tied up in a house in Mission.

Mounties are only saying the home was in a rural part of town, and the victim was held for several hours.

It wasn't a significant amount of time, but he knew he wasn't leaving, said Mission RCMP Const. Amanda Harnett.

Someone who was concerned about the teen's safety and called police, Harnett explained. Police searched a number of areas the victim may have been in and located him inside a Mission residence.

"The homeowner allowed us into the residence," said Harnett, who notes police are still trying to determine whether not the homeowner was involved in the incident.

When police arrived, the suspect in the case was not there and Mounties issued a plea Monday (March 17) for the public's help in locating the 56-year-old Abbotsford man.

The victim was not injured and police are working on the assumption he knew his captor through some criminal activity.

The victim is cooperating with police.

Robert Hazzard was arrested Monday evening in Abbotsford and charged with forcible confinement and kidnapping.
