Westbound Highway 1 crash between Abbotsford and Chilliwack has person trapped in vehicle

Helicopter lift requested over emergency scanners, congestion is building fast

UPDATE: Accident site is now clear apart from police vehicles on the right shoulder.

A person is trapped in a vehicle after a westbound crash on Highway 1 sent one vehicle into a ditch between Abbotsford and Chilliwack.

The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. just west of Number 3 Road in Abbotsford.

Emergency crews are on scene and requested additional assistance over emergency scanners, including a helicopter lift.

Congestion is starting to build around the accident site and the right lane is closed, expect significant delays.
