Adolph Horst (Alf) Weiss, age 73, passed away on January 3rd, 2014 at his home in Cloverdale, BC of natural causes. Alf was born in Siegfriedsdorf, Germany on October 3, 1940 to Justus and Helena (Nee Müller) Weiss. In 1945, his family fled from the advancing Russian army, then immigrated to Canada via the MV Beaverbrae in 1948. They settled in Winnipeg. They were married 10 months later on September 13, 1969. Alf’s great loves were his family (especially his grand- children), walking, bird-watching, fixing things, journaling, and eating good bread with good jam. Alf served for many years with Christian Service Brigade and as a shepherding elder at Sevenoaks Alliance Church. In his later years, he traveled to Alabama and Australia to visit family and take in nature.
