In Loving Memory ~
Alfred (Al or Alf) was born in Dryden, Ontario on October 18, 1927. As a young man, he attended the Watchtower Bible School of Gilead and upon graduating he began missionary work on the Hope Boat in Newfoundland. While in Newfoundland he met his wife, Joan, and they were married on November 10, 1954. Eventually, they settled down in British Columbia (Haney and then Mission) where they raised their family of 5 children. Alfred and Joan enjoyed a wonderful 65 years of marriage together. Alfred passed away peacefully on September 22, 2022 and was predeceased by his wife, Joan (May 11, 2020), his brother John (2015) and his sister Leone (2014). He is survived by his five children, Daniel (aka. Danny), Leonard, Wayne (Tammy), Wendy and Sean; six grandchildren Anjelica, Braedon, Stephanie (Nick), Devin, Jordan and Kayla (Jeff); and his sisters in law Chris Jones and Bonnie Barnes, and a large extended family. Alfred will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family wishes to extend a very special thanks to the staff in the Maple Neighbourhood at the Guildford Seniors Village where Alfred resided for the past two years. He was provided with a superior level of care in his time spent with them and they were like an extension to the family.
Alfred was a man of great and unfailing faith. He held onto the promise (Titus 1:2) of the hope of a resurrection in the future where he would be with his beloved wife and all of his family again, and in good health (Revelation 21:3-4); the assured expectation of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1).
(Revelation 21:1-5)
"Now see yourself, and see me too;
And look ahead to a world that is new.
No sight we see, now sound we hear
Will cause alarm or give rise to fear.
All has come true, just as he said;
Now over mankind, his tent is spread.
He now will awaken those sleeping in death;
Their voices will join ours with ev'ry grateful breath."
