COOK; Alvin

November 19, 1927 ~ May 16, 2016

On May 16, 2016 we lost a special husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Al is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Nonie, sons, Ron (Lorna), Rick (Kirsten), Rod (predeceased by daughter-in-law Janine), Rory & Janice, one sister Audrey Carmichael of Wenatchee, WA. He is predeceased by sisters Winnie, Pat, Dora and Jean and one brother Bob. Al was a businessman, a fireman, hunter and fisherman. While in high school Al and his friend Don Seraphim fished the local creeks and rivers. Later in life he would enjoy meeting with friends to fish the Vedder or Thompson Rivers. We had great family camping trips at Raven Lake. In 1951 Al joined the Abbotsford Volunteer Fire Dept., later to become Fire Chief. After 31 years he retired in 1982. Al had the greatest respect for his Firemen and his Deputy Chief Ron Pauls. They were the best. In 1984 Al and I joined the Abbotsford Citizen's Patrol, the greatest program. After 30 years we decided to retire again. A big thanks to the Menno Hospital for the great care of Al. In lieu of flowers donation to the Abbotsford Firefighters Burn Fund or to Abbotsford Citizen's Patrol would be appreciated. Celebration of Life, June 10, 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Rancho, 35110 DeLair Rd., Abbotsford.
