February 29, 2024

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of long time Mission resident, Arla Jean Kvaas while in the greatest of care at the Christine Morrison Hospice at the Mission Memorial Hospital on February 15th, 2024. She was thankful for her family and friends being close to her throughout her time on the hospice ward.

Arla lived in Mission for over 70 years and was even crowned Mission's honorary Strawberry Queen in the early 1950s.

She worked for R.J. Leskun, C.A. for several years until she retired around 2008. She then worked from home a few years as well as volunteering at The Cottage on Main Street in Mission until around 2018.

Arla's two favorite pastimes were shopping and traveling. Every winter she would be on a beach somewhere warm, now she is free to be on that beach in paradise forever. Though she is physically gone, she lives on in our hearts forever.

She was predeceased by her husband Alvin Kvaas and her son Tony Kvaas.

She will be greatly missed by her surviving son Clifford Guy Kvaas, her daughter Cheryl Kvaas (Dana Emans), daughter-in-law Anita Kvaas, along with granddaughters Ashley Kvaas and Amanda Bullock (Cole Bullock), and great-granddaughter Brooklyn Bullock.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation on behalf of the Kvaas family to The Christine Morrison Hospice, 7324 Hurd Street, Mission, BC V2V 3H5. We appreciate everyone that helped Arla spend the last days of her life in comfort and surrounded her with all their love.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
