August 25, 1930 - July 14, 2022
It is with sadness, the family of Augustyn ( Walter ) Salapa announce that he passed away peacefully on July 14th, 2022 at his home in Mission at the age of 91.
He was born on August 25th, 1930 in Opatow, Poland.
Walter is survived by his wife of 66 years Denise, daughter Louise, and son John. Brothers Mike, Stan and Henry. Sisters Helen, Mary, Josie, and Stella. Grandchildren Shane (Danielle), Lloyd (April), and Britteny (Peter) and great grandchildren Nathen, Scarlett, Willow, Maia, and Lloyd Jr. the fourth.
He was predeceased by father Ted, mother Marianna, brother John, sister Jenny and Sophie. Walter came from Poland at the age of 7. His family moved to St. Lina, Alberta on a farm and he eventually took over the farm. In 1967 they moved to BC and became a cement finisher and owned his own business. He loved to play baseball, loved gardening, and there was nothing he couldn't fix. He told many stories of his life experiences which were hard to believe but yes they were all true.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in his name.
A celebration of life will be done in September, announcement to be made.
