December 7, 2018
Georg passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2018 in Vancouver, BC, after a brief illness. He leaves behind his loving wife, Janet (nee Olsen), and beloved daughters Katie (Mark), Clarissa (Billy) and Marta (Liam); grandchildren Althea, Gavin, Luke, Riley and Alden; sister Gisela; nieces and nephews Hans (Doris), Georg (Dani), Steffi (Michael), Angelika (David); mother in law Jytte; sisters and brothers-in-law Jack (Lykke), Anne (Brian), Lisa (Scott) and nieces Charlotte and Hannah. He will be so fondly remembered by his extended family in Canada, USA and Germany. Georg was predeceased by his mother Maria Barrenbrugge (nee Geier).

Georg was born in Ruhpolding, Germany, close to his cherished Alps. As a young man, he was educated in business and started his career in the field of electronics. He became an electrician and with an entrepreneurial sprit, he left Germany to travel the world with his first wife Baerbel and settled in Langley, BC, where Katie was born. After meeting Janet and her daughter Clarissa, they moved to Fort Langley where Marta was born. Georg delved into many trades and interests including farming, owning a restaurant with Janet, the printing roller business of his in-laws, and the import of eco friendly building products. Georg found his niche as a pioneer in the organic coffee and tea trade in BC. Throughout his many endeavours, Georg met countless people and dearly enjoyed staying in touch with friends. He was a loyal friend to many people across Canada and Europe.

Throughout his life, Georg's passions remained spending time outdoors, cycling, skiing, travelling, working on his projects and property in Mission and spending time with his family.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Cedar Valley Mennonite Church in Mission, BC on December 19th at 2 pm.
