August 9, 1939 - June 19, 2023
In loving memory ~
Jim is remembered by all who knew him as an open-hearted, broad-minded gentleman who valued community and inclusivity, and accepted all beings without conditions or judgment. It is with grief and gratitude that we, his adoring family, announce that he passed on to his eternal reward on June 19, 2023.
Jim was born near Swalwell, Alberta on August 9, 1939 to Min. Jack Wilson and Mathilda Loewen. He was baptized upon the confession of his faith in 1951. In 1960, he married the love of his life, Marci Reimer, whom he adored to the end. They lived in rural Abbotsford and started their family while Jim worked as a builder, trucker, and lumber worker.
Moving his family to Granby, Quebec, Jim supported the family with his business, Aliments Wilson, Ltée. Returning to Abbotsford in 1980, Jim's life took on a new dimension, working for the church, with M2W2, in many Fraser Valley prisons.
Many inmates saw in Jim a man they could trust and with whom they could be vulnerable. Jim became an impassioned advocate of restorative justice and was honoured for his work in a blanketing ceremony at the Kwìkwèxwelhp Healing Village (Elbow Lake).
Upon retirement, Jim focused on community development in Mission, BC, where he was a part of many civic committees.
Predeceased by granddaughter Hannah and great-grandson Theo, Jim leaves to grieve his loving wife, Marci, his daughters Wendy (John), Sharon (Mike), Heather (Peter), and his sons Sacchin and Donald (Andrea), eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Clifford Moodley and the nurses and care aids at MMH and Mission Home Support for their compassionate and professional care during this time.
A service will be held in Mission, BC at All Saints Anglican Church on July 2, at 2:00 pm.
