December 18, 2023

With great sadness we are sharing that John Macdonald passed away peacefully on Dec 19, 2023.

John will be dearly missed by his wife, Cheryle and daughters, Jennifer Armour (Stuart) and Beth Kennard (Jason).

John was also a very proud "Papa John" to Shelby Armour, and Brodie and Brandon Kennard.

John will also be missed by his sisters, Shealagh Hobson and Christine Mackie and their families, along with his Brother-in-law Ken (Ruth) Ruddick and Sister-in-laws Kathy Ruddick and Heather Anderson and their families.

John was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba and grew up in Kelowna where he found his love for fixing machinery by working on cars. He moved to Mission in his 20's where he met his wife and built the house they lived in for over 40 years.

John had many jobs throughout his life including a mechanic, forestry worker, logger, prison guard, millwright, long haul truck driver, mill maintenance supervisor, and instructor for heavy duty machinery prior to retiring in 2017. He had also been a volunteer firefighter in Stave Falls when the hall first opened in 1980.

He really did enjoy keeping busy with work, so much so that at one point he also ran a security bar business with his son-in-law, Stuart, while continuing to work full-time.

Through out all of this, John was also the behind scenes guy and chaperone for many events and trips for the Stave Falls Scottish Dancers and enjoyed watching many of the dancers grow up.

John had a love of model trains but in Big John fashion they had to be the "G" scale not the little "HO" ones. He also had a passion for motorcycles, music, and photography.

John's sense of humour will be dearly missed by all that knew him, even many of the bad Dad jokes.

A big thank you to all the staff at TRIM for helping him in his last couple of years.

As per Dad's wishes no service will be held.

We love you Dad/Papa John and we will all miss you very much.
