March 9, 1922 – October 24, 2022
Margery Violet Skerry, age 100 of Mission, BC, passed away with family by her side on October 24th, 2022 at the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission, BC.
Predeceased by her husband, Wilfred; son, Alan and son-in-law, Larry, Margery is leaving behind her remaining 4 children, Susan (Fred), Sandra, Rick (Karen) and Rob (Wendy); 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren.
Margery came to Canada from England in 1946 as a war bride. Living most of her life in Mission, BC, Margery was the embodiment of community building, over the years volunteering at her children’s school, Mission Hospice Society, and Mission Heritage Association among others. A lifelong Anglican, she had a strong faith that translated into action in various ministries, one of her favourites being prison ministry at Mission Institution. She loved camping, canoeing, square dancing and catching up with friends at the local A&W to discuss current events over coffee. Margery loved a good cup of coffee…and tea…and a glass of wine…and a beer every once-in-a-while – let’s just say she knew how to unapologetically live life to the fullest! In later years, she found much joy traveling the world and was always up for a good adventure. The best of listeners, full of love, humour, compassion and strength, Margery had a big impact on her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by us all.
A memorial service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church (33077 Second Avenue, Mission, BC V2V 1J7) on November 12th at 2:00pm
