Martin John Lanigan


Martin was born at home November 9, 1927 in Landis, Saskatchewan. He passed into God's hands, in Abbotsford in his nintieth year. He was the middle child of nine, and second son of Mary Alice Cullen and Terence David Lanigan. He worked on his parent’s farm and left school in the ninth grade to run the family farm. He met Beverley Anne Prime on a blind date and they were married December 30, 1950 and became the parents of 7 children. He worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway in Saskatchewan, Kelly Douglas as a warehouse man in Nelson, and H & R Block in Burnaby after retirement. He was a handyman and never backed down from a challenge. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years in December of 2004. Martin was a faithful member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Abbotsford. He was also a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, holding down probably every position including Financial Secretary, and Grand Knight in Nelson, Burnaby and Abbotsford. He loved God, his wife, and his children. He is survived by his 7 children, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
