Several coffee meetings, open houses held

Editor, The Record:

Re: All MLAs, MPs forced to serve two masters, April 21 edition.

I’d like to clarify Chris Ryan's inaccuracies. He wrote that to his knowledge my latest invitation to the community was the first invite to the public to meet me and discuss issues. In fact, just in the last number of months, I have had five coffee invitations and open houses in the constituency: October, November, December, March and April. Three were in Maple Ridge and two in Mission.

I am continuously connecting with people in our communities and meeting with organizations, community leaders and constituents. I work diligently for Mission and Maple Ridge and have fully staffed offices in both municipalities to help me better serve residents. I respond to constituent e-mails, calls and arrange face to face meetings on a regular basis.

Mr. Ryan knows this very well. When he himself wanted to meet me some time ago about issues of concern, I met with him at my Mission office for a lengthy conversation. I’ve also corresponded with him at different times by e-mail.

I am here because I desire to serve the people of Mission, Maple Ridge and all British Columbians. My ongoing hope and goal is to make a significant contribution to help people and make our communities a better place to live. It is a demanding job, but I count it an honour.
