Cross-country skiing: Drolet a double-gold winner

A second gold medal in as many days for Remi Drolet highlighted the individual start cross-country races in Whistler on Saturday.

Drolet, a Rossland native who won the midget boys individual sprint on Friday, followed that with another triumph in the individual start. Rounding out the podium finishers in the event were Salmon Arm's Konrad Van Varseveld and Ian Williams of Kelowna.

Travis Pete of Smithers was the juvenile boys winner, hitting the finish line ahead of David Bakker of Salmon Arm and Courtenay native Tallon Noble.

Anna Goodwin of North Vancouver won the juvenile girls race, edging Rachel May of Salmon Arm and Jenna Sim of Rossland.

Alana Brittin of Revelstoke was the midget girls gold medalist, finishing ahead of Benita Peiffer of Whistler and Maxine Forder of West Vancouver.
