Alison Komlos continued the family tradition.
The 12-year-old from West Vancouver won the gold medal in the women's group C 3m final on Saturday afternoon at the Walnut Grove Aquatic Centre in the B.C. Winter Games.
Komlos is representing Zone 5 Vancouver-Squamish.
She joins her mother Jill and older sister Alexa in adding to the family's collection of medals from the Games.
Her mom won gold in the all-around gymnastics at the 1980 B.C. Winter Games in Kimberley, while Alexa won bronze in diving at the 2010 B.C. Summer Games in Langley.
"The goal was to try my best and to get a medal," she said afterwards. "It was nice to win."
Komlos scored a combined 282.95 over her six dives to run away with the title.
The silver medal went to Zone 3 Fraser Valley's Jessie Nowotny of Langley – she scored 235.50 – while Komlos' Zone 5 teammate Maggie Osieja took bronze with 223.40.
On her final dive, Komlos executed a front two-and-a-half pike dive, a pretty tough one to pull off.
"It has the most spins out of the dives I do," she explained.
But that is the appeal of the sport.
"I like challenging myself and when you do a new dive and a good dive, it is really rewarding," she said.
Osieja, who is from West Vancouver, was happy to win the bronze medal as she said she is used to her teammate Komlos winning the majority of the competitions."
"She wins them all," she said when her friend tried to downplay the success.
This is also her first year in the sport.
"I just wanted to try my hardest and it was really fun," she said.
"I am glad I got to compete and was able to win the bronze."
