Janzen named best boxer

Mission City Boxing's Saturday Night Fights draws 250 people

An award-winning bout featuring Marco Janzen was among the highlights as Mission City Boxing hosted a recent Saturday Night Fights event at Durieu School.

The gym was packed with about 250 boxing fans for 16 exciting fights, and Janzen’s tilt with Ryan Monga of Nanaimo was voted best youth bout of the evening.

Three other bouts featured Mission City Boxing athletes. Owen Bergen, 17, won his bout against Tokoara Elliot of Nanaimo, while clubmates Vinny Janzen (age 11) and Issac Andres (12) had an exciting exhibition match which was a great experience for both of them. Mission’s Gabe Donaver, 15, made his debut in an exhibition versus Ivan Boyd.
