The Mission Stars U18 A1 team claimed their second consecutive provincial championship on Wednesday (March 20) in Nelson.

The Stars defeated Aldergrove 9-0 in the semi-final before defeating Terrace 5-3 in the championship game.

Jared MacDonald scored a hat trick while Kai Lehmann added a pair to lead Mission to a shutout victory in the semi-final.

Meanwhile, Darian McKamey got Mission on the board almost five minutes into the first period of the final. Maddox Parkes, Jarius Wiebe and Shawn Pesek all found the back of the net for the Stars in the second period, giving Mission a 4-0 advantage.

Terrace showed fight to close out the contest. Ryder Hobenshield scored the team’s first of the game in the second and Jacob Suderman scored back-to-back in the third to pull Terrace within one.

However, McKamey buried his second of the game with less than six minutes remaining to extend the lead to two again.

Mission held on in the final minutes to win back-to-back banners in the U18 Tier 3 division.
