Ball movement, getting everyone involved and communication were the keys for Thompson-Okanagan as they played some run-and-gun basketball in a 52-13 victory over North West.
“The passing was key,” said Kelowna’s Austin Mortimer, who led the victors with 16 points.
“We did a lot of passing and a lot of running.”
The two teams were playing in Special Olympics basketball at UFV’s Envision Athletic Centre on Friday morning at the BC Winter Games.
Thompson-Okanagan raced out to a 14-0 lead and never looked back. They were up 28-4 at the half and 36-10 after three quarters.
“It is always nice to start (the tournament) with a win,” Mortimer said.
“And we just had lots of passing, trying to get everyone involved.”
Francis Stanley scored 10 points while Josh Nissen and Erika Wamsteeker had eight points apiece.
Daniel Pascual led North West with seven points, including a three-pointer.
