Cormac Chui of Vancouver-Squamish took gold in the male U16 speed skating 1500m final on Friday afternoon at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre.
He came in with the quickest time of 2:53.00 and two tenths of a second behind him was Eric Spence from Thompson Okanagan to win the silver medal.
Tyler Hartleb was intially awarded with third place but he was penalized and dropped to last place while Alex Chizawsky from the Fraser Valley rightfully received the bronze. After winning the gold medal, Cormac stated he was pumped and had "expected to win."
