The Fraser Valley took control of the U14 1500 metre Super Final races on Saturday afternoon, winning five of the six available podium spots in the event.

In the women’s race, Renee Kalkman of the Cariboo North-East Zone Eight team would easily win the race to take the gold medal with a time of 2:54.34, making her the only skater from out side the Fraser Valley to reach the podium. The battle for silver and bronze proved to be much closer with Annabel Johnson of the Fraser Valley Zone Three team’s time of 2:59.36 narrowly edging out her teammate, Janie Green’s, time of 2:59.56.

The men’s race saw William Park of the Fraser Valley Zone Three team earn one of five gold medals in a dominating weekend with a time of 2:44.00. Ciaran Scott of the Fraser Valley won silver with a time of 2:46.00 and Marshall Shupe’s time of 2:49.08 was good enough to clinch bronze and sweep the podium for the Fraser Valley.
