Walker, MSS sprint past Ballenas

Mission Roadrunners coach Kevin Watrin called it the best game he's ever seen Jesse Walker play, and it's hard to dispute that notion.

Mission Roadrunners coach Kevin Watrin called it the best game he's ever seen Jesse Walker play, and it's hard to dispute that notion.

Walker, the Roadrunners' Grade 11 speedster, dominated on both sides of the ball, accounting for four touchdowns in Mission's 33-7 win over Ballenas last Saturday to open the provincial AA football playoffs.

Playing on the artificial turf field at Abbotsford's W.J. Mouat Secondary, Walker racked up 125 rushing yards and two TDs on the ground, caught a scoring pass from Evan Horton en route to another 116 yards receiving, and also hauled in two interceptions on defence, one of which he returned to the end zone.

The Roadrunners, ranked No. 3 in AA, move on to face the Frank Hurt Hornets of Surrey in the B.C. quarter-finals this Friday. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at W.J. Mouat.
