The Mission Roadrunners senior girls volleyball team completed day one of the AAAA provincials with a record of two wins and one loss.

The club opened the tournament with a 2-0 (25-18, 25-23) win over Kelowna, and then also defeated North Peace 2-0 (25-11, 25-15).

The Roadrunners then took on third-ranked Handsworth, and opened with a 25-21 win in the first set, but then dropped the ensuing sets (25-17, 15-12) to fall 2-1.

Despite the setback, Mission advances to the championship bracket for finishing second in their pool.

The Roadrunners now take on South Delta tomorrow (Friday) at 11:30 a.m. A win in that game means they would then face the winner of the Semiahmoo vs. Moscrop game tomorrow at 6:45 p.m.

Mission defeated South Delta at the Fraser Valley tournament earlier this month. Medal games for the tournament occur on Saturday. All games take place at the Langley Events Centre.
