A man was arrested last Tuesday (Feb. 27) after an alleged theft at Mad Bodies Active Rehab Clinic in Mission.

According to a statement from Mission RCMP, a man walked into Mad Bodies on First Avenue, entered the staff room and fled with personal effects belonging to employees.

Witnesses followed the man at a distance and provided updates on his location to a 911 dispatcher. Mission RCMP officers arrested the man in a trail network near the Mission Library. Police say the man threatened and fought back, but officers were able to get him into custody.

The stolen items were returned to the rightful owners.

Mission RCMP recommended charges of theft, uttering threats, and breaching a Conditional Sentence Order in relation to a previous offence.

“Mission RCMP appreciate the information provided by the witnesses, which helped to locate the male,” the detachment said.

In a Facebook post, Mad Bodies thanked a patient’s mom for helping to follow the man through downtown Mission and keeping 911 updated.

“We’re thankful that no one was harmed and a bad moment showed us how great our community is,” the Facebook post reads.
